Uniform Distribution of Orbits of Lattices on Spaces of Frames

Abstract. We study distribution of orbits of a lattice Γ ⊆ SL(n,R) in the the space Vn,l of l-frames in R (1 ≤ l ≤ n − 1). Examples of dense Γ-orbits are known from the work of Dani, Raghavan, and Veech. We show that dense orbits of Γ are uniformly distributed in Vn,l with respect to an explicitly described measure. We also establish analogous result for lattices in Sp(n,R) that act on the spac...

Mini-emulsion preparation, kinetics of reaction and physical properties of acrylic terpolymer lattices

In this study, stable lattices of terpolymer butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and styrene were synthesized by a mini-emulsion polymerization technique using tert-butyl hydroperoxide TBHP/Fe2 /ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid/sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate redox initiators at room temperature, and the kinetics of the reaction were studied. The reaction rate was obtained from periodic samplin...

Distribution of Periodic Torus Orbits and Duke’s Theorem for Cubic Fields

We study periodic torus orbits on space of lattices. Using the action of the group of adelic points of the underlying tori, we define a natural equivalence relation on these orbits; for rank 3 lattices, we show that the equivalence classes become uniformly distributed. This is a cubic analogue of Duke’s theorem about the distribution of closed geodesics on the modular surface: suitably interpre...

Stability of periodic orbits of coupled-map lattices.

We consider the stability properties of spatial and temporal periodic orbits of one-dimensional coupled-map lattices. The stability matrices for them are of the block-circulant form. This helps us to reduce the problem of stability of spatially periodic orbits to the smaller orbits corresponding to the building blocks of spatial periodicity, enabling us to obtain the conditions for stability in...
